Toronto Flat-lay Photography FAQs:
-
What is ghost mannequin photography?
Learn MoreGhost mannequin photography is a product photography technique that makes garments appear as though they are being worn without showing the mannequin itself. This creates a clean, professional image that helps customers see the shape, fit, structure, and design of the clothing without distraction.Ghost mannequin images are commonly used for e-commerce, online catalogues, sell sheets, line sheets, websites, and buyer presentations. This style is especially effective for fashion brands that want their clothing to look polished, dimensional, and ready for retail presentation.
-
Why use ghost mannequin photography instead of flat-lay or model photography?
Learn MoreGhost mannequin photography keeps the attention on the garment itself. Unlike model photography, there are no distractions related to body type, styling, race, or gender. Unlike flat-lay photography, ghost mannequin images show more of the garment’s natural shape and structure, which can make the product easier for customers and buyers to understand. The right choice depends on the product, budget, and intended use. Flat-lay photography can be more cost-effective for high volumes, while model photography can feel more aspirational. Ghost mannequin photography is often the middle ground when you want clean presentation with a stronger sense of fit and form.
-
How are ghost mannequin photography projects performed at Jules Design?
Learn MoreAt Jules Design, garments are carefully styled on the mannequin and photographed in a way that allows us to create the invisible mannequin effect during editing. In many cases, this requires multiple photographs of the same garment, including interior areas such as the collar or inner neckline, so the final composite looks clean and natural.Clients can drop off their products or attend the photoshoot. We often recommend attending if you have specific preferences for garment styling, folds, symmetry, or presentation. Having a clear plan helps keep the process efficient and reduces the risk of reshoots.
-
How much does ghost mannequin photography cost?Learn More
Most ghost mannequin photography projects are billed by the hour, although a per-piece rate may be available depending on the quantity and consistency of the garments. Because ghost mannequin photography usually requires more styling, multiple captures, and more detailed Photoshop work, it is often more labour-intensive than flat-lay photography. For a detailed quote, we recommend contacting Jules Design at 647-997-2793 or emailing us at [email protected].
-
How should garments be prepared for a ghost mannequin photoshoot?
Learn MoreFor the best results, garments should arrive clean, steamed, and ready to shoot. Wrinkles, lint, dust, loose threads, and poor folding can all add time to the production process and affect the final image quality. Well-prepared garments lead to cleaner photography and lower retouching time.If additional garment prep such as steaming, delinting, or reshaping is needed, that may increase production time and cost. Bringing products in ready condition helps keep the shoot efficient and the final images stronger.
-
What are ghost mannequin images used for?
Learn MoreGhost mannequin images are commonly used for e-commerce product pages, online stores, catalogues, sell sheets, line sheets, websites, print marketing materials, and buyer presentations. They are especially useful when a brand wants a clean, professional product image that highlights the garment rather than the model. This style of photography works well for shirts, jackets, dresses, uniforms, knitwear, and other apparel where shape, structure, and presentation matter.

Ghost Mannequin Photography Samples by Jules Design
Ghost mannequin photography helps fashion brands present garments in a clean, dimensional, sales-ready format with the focus kept on the clothing itself. Learn More At Jules Design, we create Toronto ghost mannequin photography for apparel brands, retailers, wholesalers, and e-commerce companies that need practical product images for catalogues, sell sheets, websites, online stores, and buyer presentations. Ghost mannequin photography is a strong option when you want the garment to hold its shape and present more like it is being worn, without the distraction of a visible model. We currently have both male and female mannequins in studio. Our male mannequin generally fits small to medium garments, and our female mannequin is approximately a size 0. If your products fall outside those sizes, or if you require children’s ghost mannequin photography, special mannequins may need to be rented. Kid mannequins are subject to availability, and rental deposits are required in advance. Colour accuracy is also important in fashion product photography. At Jules Design, we use a colour-managed workflow to help maintain consistency throughout the photography and editing process. This gives garments a more accurate and reliable appearance across e-commerce, catalogues, and marketing materials, although certain colours such as neons, metallics, iridescents, and some Pantone shades can still be more difficult to reproduce exactly on every screen. Ghost mannequin photography is usually more labour-intensive than flatlay photography because it often requires multiple captures of the same garment and more detailed retouching in Photoshop. That said, the result can be a cleaner and more structured apparel presentation that helps customers better understand the fit, shape, collar, sleeves, and overall construction of the garment. If you already know how you want the garments styled, we can follow your direction. If you need guidance, we can help determine whether ghost mannequin photography, flatlay photography, or model photography makes the most sense for your products, budget, and intended use.
